Dear Maud Area Community:
Due to the tragic event that occurred during the Choctaw-Del City football game, Maud Public School has worked side by side with the Maud Police Department to up-date our safety and security measures. We understand the measures may be an inconvenience. We appreciate your understanding and support, while we work diligently to provide a safe, enjoyable environment for our athletes, students and fans.
The following Protocols will be in place for the Aug. 31st home game:
• According to Oklahoma law, no firearms, weapons, or explosives are allowed on Maud Public School Property.
• Upon entry all bags will be searched
• Upon entry metal detection devices will be used.
• You will be asked to empty pockets prior to metal detection.
• Increased police presence
• There will be no parking in the area between north of the high school and the football field. There will be an area for handicap parking for vehicles displaying handicap card near the ticket gate.
• If you leave the game, metal detectors will be used upon re-entry.
Proper conduct is expected by all spectators. This includes proper fan etiquette towards players, referees, staff and police department. Students should sit in the stands and not congregate. Elementary students must have a parent or guardian present and remain with that person for the duration of the game.
Please note these protocols are subject to change to include no backpacks or large bags with the allowance of only clear bags. These decisions will be based on observations during tonight’s game.
Once again, these protocols are being implemented for the safety of everyone.
Sincerely,
Cindy White
Superintendent

Today was our last day for our 21st Century Summer Program. It has been a fun summer and the students have stated they have learned a lot.
Our first two weeks the students learned about extinct animals and we took them to the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History. Where they were able to see dinosaurs bones and other exhibits relating to extinct animals.
The second two weeks the students learned about exotic animals and we took a field trip to the Oklahoma City Zoo. The students were able to feed the Lorikeet.
The last two weeks our students have learned about animals under the sea and we had a fun filled day visiting the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks. At the aquarium our students got to feed the turtles and stingrays, they also got to pet some stingrays and sharks. We asked all the students which was their favorite field trip and they all said the Oklahoma Aquarium was their favorite.
This week students have been learning about farm animals. Mrs. Townsing has brought two of her rabbits and her horse, Noodle so the students could pet them.
In between learning about Animals from Around the World, our students in grades 3rd-8th have spent time at the pool taking a pool safety class with Mrs. Minton and they have also went fishing with Bobby Shatto.
We would like to say, Thank you to the following people who made our summer program a success: Bobby Shatto for teaching our fishing class. OSU extension for provided lessons each week and providing crafts for our students to make their own fossils and providing the supplies for students to make butter. Pioneer Library for reading to our students. Our school nurse, Ms. Stephens for providing a health class for 3rd-8th grade. Thank you to all the parents who attended the field trips, and thank you to all of the teachers and high school assistants who worked hard to make our 21st Century Summer Program a success.
We hope you have a wonderful summer break and we will see you when school starts back up in August.
